RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
I always liked the design of this model. I made the original when I first started using SU, it was quite some time ago and I had very little modeling ability then. I spent an hour or so over the past few days tidying the old model up and making it look all nice and shiny. This has the same specs as the original; Duratec, Twin Turbocharged V6, around 250 - 320hp, MR layout. This was largely inspired by the Noble M12 and the Ford Escort RS Cosworth. I am also planning on cleaning up another similar model which was based on the same design as this. Enjoy the Nostalgia! . . . If I get time one day I might completely re-build this design

Now that I have all the Falcon base models made I have started work on a little surprise...

RE: SketchUp Product Configurator Plug-in?
Thanks for the reply Chris, I think I may be able to do this whole thing with dynamic components...Now, just to figure out how the thing works...

SketchUp Product Configurator Plug-in?
I have been requested to model a collection of automotive models and integrate them into a product configurator for use by “clients”. I have tried a few other programs such as Esperient Creator but these all seemed too excessive for what I was looking for. I need a little help with a few plug-in ideas or some advice on what would be the best method of doing things in SU
I wish to have a base model which a client could then choose accessories for, to replace existing components in model or to add to the model. All these parts textures will need to stay in sync as the main car body texture is edited. This would require a plug-in that synchronises the other components or textures with the main body texture on demand, e.g.:
The plug-in would use a “key phrase”, which is in the desired textures names and/or the components names, to be updated. So when an “update” button is pressed or the texture is edited the other textures and/or components with the textures name (key phrase) in their title get updated/the texture applied to them. A list of key phrases would be stored and the plug-in would monitor and synchronise the desired textures/components when edited.
-User specifies “Body” as a phrase
Texture: “Body”, when edited, will be synchronised with other textures and/or components with the phrase “Body” in their name.I need this because there will be multiple models being inserted with different textures, which would then need to be synchronised with one texture, when the end user edits this.
I may also need a plug-in that can apply a texture or texture map type thing in a certain shape to any component surface or textured surface in a particular area, kind of like intersecting a shape with mesh and then filling that area with a new texture. I wish to use this idea to apply racing stripes to different body types, where the user can choose stripes or no strips. Maybe a similar method to the first plug-in idea would be good. Where a user specified “body” as a key phrase and then specifies the shape/racing stripe to intersect and then fill the area with a specified texture...
^Gosh, that sounds a little confusing
I would also like any ideas about plug-ins that may help with such a product configurator, or someone who may be able to help...
... Or I could just use some help with layers, to turn off one layer when another is turned on
Thanks

Lol, I know what you mean. That’s why I go through and clean out my models occasionally.

RE: Ray Ochoa- My Car WIPs and final renders
I very much like the design of the Ziatti GT, it’s very modest.
Prius?!? Heck no! The last thing we need is another pointless "hybrid", damn terrible things. If Toyota really cared about the environment they would stop mass producing cars and start producing technology to replace the existing power trains we currently rely on.

Thanks for the advice and comments, they are always welcome.
New model!
My Thirty Sixth wheel. Based off that of the Audi RS6. I have dropped the detail a bit, from a 100 sided circle to a 50 sided one. This is a request by Alex.

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
I might make a Mk6 fiesta if I make a last gen Mondeo, which is probably one of the best looking sedans around. Damn, i wish I had the SU energy to make most fords since 2000 but it’ll take soo damn long!

Just some pic's of my Mondeo..Oh, and the Mondeo model

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Looks good. I have seen a couple of earlier model retro-build’s. Based on the GT500XR, not the best build but its still unique. Oh, btw, link to the full story is wrong

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Yeah, I have set-up one or two. I don’t often bother but I may end up adding a few more.
Now that you mention it -
RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Well, it’s because smoothing as you go is pointless. I often re-model large part of the model and that requires raw mesh. If it’s all messy and grouped it can often lead to whole groups being deleted or moved. It’s just a lot easier to work straight from raw mesh and group thing and add finishing touches at the end
Thanks for the comments though
