RE: Transformers

WOW!!! I can't believe I missed these Roden!
As I was scrolling down I was silently hoping you would indeed have combined all five into the mighty Bruticus and YES, you DID!
Question, did you use the actual models to form Bruticus or did you create him from scratch too?I didn't do those models - they're Paul Mannings.

RE: The City Of Ankh-Morpork W.I.P.
Excellent project - for references for some of the buildings you might want to look at some of the Clarecraft figurines of the buildings.
Hmm, I may have a go at modelling them....

RE: Transformers
Lol - I agree about the funky legs - I just model what I'm asked to
Paul - I'm Impressed by all the stuff you've been putting on the warehouse, especially the cityscapes. Seeing the inclusion of the smelting pools reminded me why I modeled this little guy...
I'll have to get back into the modelling game before you've done all the good stuff

RE: Mindblowing 3D photo viewer
You can have a look at the original photosynth tech demo Here. It's not quit as fancy as what they show in that video though.

A side matter, but do you have any idea how many people would lose their jobs if this were to be mass produced? We're talking about the people on the oil platforms, pump station personnel, etc. It would mean a total nightmare for the economy. And this comes from a guy (me) that would like to see this invention be used as well. But the fact remains, many will lose their jobs. And who wants that?
I imagine that the amout of oil used for fuel is quite a small proportion of total use in manufacturing/Chemical plants, lubricants, plastics and the like - there will always be a demand for oil.

RE: When the sea rises
Cool - with a 14m sea level rise my flat will be only a few minutes from the beach, I'd better get a bucket and spade ready.

The NHS is widely opposed to natural medicines that just don't work.
Indeed they dont work in a traditional way, but in a lot of cases, just taking something (whatever it might be) can help a lot of people. Its pretty cheap as well.
having said that, i still love the NHS. Free healthcare for everyone is a brilliant idea, even if it does have its downsides.
I think a problem with the NHS is that the normal aproach to any health problem is to throw tablets at it (which all have side effects) I think that spending more time talking to patients and thinking outside the box a little would improve treatment. Also, the NHS seems to be pretty poor at dealing with mental health problems.
I'd much prefer the NHS to private health care though - I'd probably be dead or hugely in debt without it!

RE: Spore Creature creation
@remus said:
I doubt it. Its part pf the game, so i think its unlikely they'll be giving away the meshes, even if you create them.
Theres always the possibility of someone hacking it though.
You can exchange creatures between copies of the game (it seems the info is contained in png files) but I don't know how you'd access the actual mesh.

Spore Creature creation
Has anybody been playing around with this? (I know it's not officially released until tuesday but still...) It's very easy to make a variety of different creatures even with the free version (which has about 1/4 of the options of the full one)

I know how you feel - I'm 31 too, at least I haven't been asked for ID for a while!
