Remus, sorry I meant that last comment for PRSS just looked at the wrong name.

Daniel, I would also like to know your working settings.

That is really impressive! The detail is ridiculous, how long did it take you to model?

      Thanks for the comments guys!

Anssi - I actually didn't have too much say in the design on this one, just did the model and some presentation work for it. I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by the addition introducing it's own symmetry but I can sort of see what you're talking about. The original idea was to tear down the existing house which is really in poor shape. Due to the requirement of keeping it, there were a lot of additional factors that had to be taken into account.

    • RE: Installed new graphics card - display problem

Unfortunately, the latest drivers may not help. I recently got a new 8800gt and have been having similar problems (ie. selection window issues when AA is turned on). In my search for a solution (which is still on-going) I have found that the current nvidia drivers, while fixing some issues that people had with certain games, seems to have messed something up with opengl applications and some games. I have rolled back to a previous nvidia driver version (163.xx) after reading somewhere that it might help. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problems I was having, so I guess I'll wait until the next nvidia release and see if it improves. Honestly I'm a little disappointed in the performance upgrade in sketchup with this new card, but I was aware going in that it wouldn't be, maybe one day I'll pony up for a quadro.

Remus, definitely post back if you come across something that works.

    • RE: Skateboarding..

Very interesting use of sketchup, the models look really nice. So you use the sketchup models as a design tool and build the projects from them? That's pretty cool. I'd really like to see some of the more detailed drawings if there are any you can share, do you do them in sketchup or cad?

Anyway, great work, welcome to the forums, look forward to seeing more of your work.

    • RE: How can I have more than one flat plan-view scene?

Here you go Tom, hopefully this will answer your questions. If not, post back and I'll try to clarify where needed.

Edit: I didn't look at your link before responding. You'll need to right click on the link and save link as ***.rb (it should do this automatically). Save it to your sketchup plugins folder. It will shop on in the camera pulldown menu. You'll have to figure out how to use it since I havn't used that tool. Hope that helps.

Paul, the link on that site is dead, do you have the file that you could upload?

      Thanks,

    • RE: Townhouse Project

Thanks Jason, I started with the Sketchy Pen Black and added back in materials and tweaked the other settings to what looked good. Nothing special. I did recently try some of the custom styles that are posted around here and some of them looked very cool.

    • RE: Roof and Floor Detail

I really like the finished product here, I'm going to have to try this on a project of my own. Contractors sometimes say they have trouble understanding what our intentions are with certain details, this would definitely kill some if not all of those issues.

      Great work Dylan!

    • RE: Townhouse Project

Thanks for the comments guys. The color scheme derived from not wanting to show them definitive materials and get locked into anything just yet. It just sort of worked out that the white and greens complimented each other fairly well. As for a render, I hope to devote some time to that soon. I'm looking forward to trying out the new KT tomorrow, but I haven't spent much time in that area up to this point so it's going to be a trial & error process. I'll be sure to post my results when I do.

    • Townhouse Project

Been lurking on here for a while now, figured I'd post some recent work to see what everyone thinks.

It's a townhouse project where the city is making us keep the original existing house (with the chimneys) and we're adding 4 additional units. Nothing too fancy, just had to show the development review committee something.

Hey Craig, thanks for posting about this. I've sent in my info to the email address you posted, so we'll see what happens. I've been looking to make a change in this direction so it's worth looking into.
