    • RE: Layout: Love it or Loathe it?

I use Layout at our Architectural Practice for planning drawings and presentation work.

Layout is much better than it use to be, I have been using it since it was first released, but since the ability of setting a scale to elevations we use it a lot more, mainly because you can get much better looking elevations than Auto-CAD.

Having textures, shadows, and line styles on the elevations is great compared to CAD.

I will be at the Basecamp both days and looking forward to your presentation.

I have attached an example of a recent planning drawing I did at the office.

      kind regards,
      Nat

    • RE: Living Space

Thanks for the comments, the chairs are intended to be leather I know they are a bit too shiny. I do all the normally PP things to the renders, brightness contrast, levels, auto colour etc, the way I got the subtle light on the first image is by doing this:

Copy the main image. Desaturate the copied layer. Go to the level histogram. Pull the left triangule to the right until everything turns black apart from the window(s). Add gaussian blur to the new layer (blur to suit needs). Set the layer's blend mode to 'screen'. Adjust the opacity to suit.

Hope this is helpful. I have attached another render of a Kitchen, rendered with Podium again.

      regards,
      Nat

    • RE: Sample Model for Rendering

Here is the scene rendered using SU Podium, I used the interior high preset and it took 3hrs and 45 minutes but this was a large image size of 6400x3030 I have cropped it and down sized the image so I can attach here, it would have been much faster to render at a smaller size. New textures have been added from the Podium Material Library/Browser. Levels have been adjusted in Photoshop.
