well, the model i'm currently working on is about halfway and already about 7meg... and I'm still on version 7. Will try to get my hands on the new one though-

Hey guys. I'm an architecture student in South Africa and have been using sketchup for about 3years now. I always used to have lag when orbiting slightly larger models, especially with shadows on. I used to think this was because of my old pc not being fast enough but after recently upgrading to an i7 processor with 8gram and nvidia quaddro fx1800 graphics card I am still having the same problem. I have turned on hardware acceleration and have the newest drivers on board... if this problem persists I fear I may have to switch to another 3d modeller but I really don't want to as i love using sketchup! Please help...
