Thank you for posting here and for your info as well.
I see that you are using Blogger and I think I have mostly only good things to say about that blogging platform, even while I am so new, I haven't yet used it.

I too already have hosting account on web server and desire to set up (as you say) proper website. Blogging seems like a good way to get started until more full fledged site is developed.

And my second but (see previous post) pertains to idea of publishing / uploading my work to 3rd party server, rather than going with own server or own hosting account.

I'm not sure if this is a side discussion to what I'm asking in this thread, and my 'but' is with regards that I think, after some consideration, that I'd prefer to have publication of my designs on my hosting account or own server. Know what I'm saying?

I feel open to the community publishing approach and would consider it foolish to rule that out, especially when just getting started. I see Blogger, Jalbum, and Issuu as going with platforms that are run by 3rd parties. Again, I think these are okay to very good solutions.

I see WordPress (the .org kind) as solution that is run on 'own' platform and more conducive to setting up / maintaining own website. Disadvantage, especially to start-up, is that it requires more work, more learning, but it seems to me to be prudent direction over long(er) term.

Anyway, if a more experienced designer and internet user wishes to add to this discussion, I am very open to further consideration on this.

Thanks for the info. Some replies:

• I can't tell if I can use Porta for development on my Mac. It looks like not.
• From what I can tell Issuu looks very promising. But...(see below)
• Jalbum too looks very promising. But...(see below)

These are great leads Pilou and worthy of further exploration than the 10 minutes I gave while constructing this post. Thank you!

My buts are 2 fold. One I'll state in post following this. The other is that as I go about this process, I am honestly more interested in presentation layers that can depict 3D images as 3D files. You know, spin designs around and really view the design as it is (I think) intended. I'm not sure if Jalbum and Issuu publish in that way, but I could see both of them expanding to 3D viewing in relatively near future.

I would note that options I've so far looked at for 3D viewing, include:

• Wirefusion
• Hypercosm

I am noting to myself, and anyone who cares, that I am finding this previous thread topic to be very helpful with my inquiry. And I haven't even made it through second post yet!

But this thread is still open for additional considerations.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and have been using SketchUp (SUP) for little over a year, mostly learning the basics. I'm getting to point where I'd like to create an online portfolio and am wondering how other more experienced users / designers go about this?

My preference is to use a WordPress Blog and either embed the designs on the site or have separate site just for the portfolio part.

I think I get how to export designs, but am looking for as much detail as anyone is willing to provide this newbie in getting designs on a website portfolio.

If it helps, I am still using free version of SketchUp (v6) and am on Mac Pro. I intend to go to SUP Pro fairly soon, but until then I desire information on this "how to" for us non pro users.

Btw, I look forward to posting much more on this site and reading the advice on this forum. Very glad I found you all.
