    • Viewport scale changes on update

I have a problem with my SU models in layout changing scale when I update the links.

I've inserted views of my model into LO like a floor plan and elevations and set the scale of these to say 1:50, but when I update the model reference the scale changes to some random scale slightly different to 1:50. This is frustrating because every view then requires me to re-set the scale and move the view to align with my LO notes & dimensions every time I change my SU model.

Is there a way to make sure the SU view in LO stays exactly the same when updated?

    • Default text style in LO

Hi Guys, me again the LO newbie...I'm trying very hard to get up to speed in LO to test it as a replacement drafting package.

My new question is how do you set the default text style for labels?

Seems every label I make reverts back to the font Georgia when the rest of my dwg is in Arial Narrow.
I can't seem to find any settings in the document setup, preferences, or text & dimension trays.

I know I can eyedropper/paint the style from another object to change it but would be good to change the default.

      thanks again in advance,
      Mark.

    • RE: Page Management? How do I...

      Perfect.

If I wasn't so new to LO I would feel very stupid for not finding this myself.

Thanks for not laughing too hard!

    • Page Management? How do I...

How can I rearrange the order of pages in LO? Is there an easier way than cutting & pasting the contents of a whole page from one page to another?

I'm hoping someone will show me a thumbnail gallery (like powerpoint) where pages can be dragged around.

I wonder why LO doesn't just shop pages as tabs at the top like SU?

    • RE: Managing Tables in Layout

Thanks guys. Above posts mention importing rtf or even pdf?

      1. I can't seem to get my excel to export rtf. How do I create an rtf from excel?
      2. I can't see how LO imports a pdf?

    • Intersecting models

can anyone point me to a script that makes intersecting models and removing unwanted faces quicker?

currently I use the intersect with model tool which creates lines on my model along the slicing plane, but then I have to manually remove the faces on the side of the slice that I don't want.

I'm hoping theres a script to automatically slice the model and remove sliced faces.

    • Managing Tables in Layout

      Hi,
I'm a long time SU user but new to Layout. I'm considering changing all my construction drafting from AutoCAD to LO but would like some advice on managing schedules & lists in LO drawings.

For example I currently import an excel table into acad modelspace and create viewports in whichever paperspace page I need to see the table. This works well because I only have to update one master table for the whole dwg. It also allows me to just view the relevant part of the table in paperspace by adjusting the viewport. I can update the table by double-clicking which opens excel again.

Can I do all this in LO? I would prefer not to use excel but do it all in LO. I understand I can create a table of information, but how would I create a master table and view different parts of it on multiple pages?

I also read a post saying only the Mac version does tables. I run SU on both PC & Mac so would I be better off using the mac?

      Thanks,
      Mark
