      Well,

I have just come home from having an awesome musical night with another family and really appreciate all the helpful responses to my first post. I will certainly investigate further.

      Thankyou very much.

Bill, my wife is a Kiwi.
I also have a few relations on the South Isle around Timaru and Dunedin.
      Must be my Scottish ancestry.

    • Just to say "HI"

      Hi everyone,

Just thought i would introduce myself.

      Upholsterer by trade.
Been in the furniture industry 30 odd years.

Love design - artistic design - including architecture - textiles sculpture and form.

Amazingly we can get caught up in our own little world without realising the innovation & technology that is at our fingertips if we are prepared to take the plunge.

I had only recently come across Sketchup and am amazed at its capability from what i have seen so far. Have tried various other products thinking that they were going to be the
answer. However, i have spent two years in the wilderness not being able to find a software that would not be too technical for me, provide plenty of options for plugins - add ons.

Started to view the Help Videos on line and will post from time to time asking some pretty basic questions.

I would like to start of with one question.

I took a photo of a furniture model i did some time ago.
      Its in jpeg format.
Can i upload it into Sketchup and then manipulate both its shape and form in a 3D format?

      Cheers markcoinoz
