    • RE: Download issue

So it turns out that the problem is my operating system- guess I have to upgrade before the new Sketchup will work. Hope this old machine will take one more upgrade. But thanks for your help on this.

If I may, there is a new question. I've installed the Bezier Spline plug in, because in my woodworking I use a lot of curves. But now I'm like the cat that's caught its first bird- I've got no idea what to do with it. Are you aware of any places/sites that talk about which spline choices are best for which tasks, and actually how to use these things?

    • RE: Download issue

I did push the red button to download Sketchup 2013, and did everything else it asked me to do to install. I saved the emailed drawing to my computer rather than try to open it direct from the email. File>open the saved file still gives me the same message that I need the 13.0.4123 version. What's bizarre is when I bought my new laptop and downloaded Sketchup onto it, that's the version I got. But I've now downloaded and (I think) installed on my desktop and still have the old version. Should I completely uninstall and reinstall?

    • Download issue

I just tried to open a Sketchup file which I had e-mailed to me. A box popped up saying I have version 8.0.16845 and need version 13.0.4123. I went onto the Sketchup website and downloaded Sketchup again, thinking I would get the new version, but I see I still have the old one. I can find no reference to this new version anywhere on Sketchup's website. Anybody know what I do now?

    • Can Sketchup 8 be put on an iPad?

I do most of my designing (furniture) on a Mac desktop. It would be useful to be able to email a drawing to my iPad so I could take that out to my shop and check dimensions, etc. I have seen ipad apps that will allow viewing, but not dimensioning, move/copy, etc. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Quite possibly/probably. How do you determine the window size, and what could one do to make it smaller/narrower? By the way, I appreciate your help on this, thanks.

So if you don't get the same experience as me, that makes me wonder if there's something in my setup that's causing this. I will freely admit that from a computer literacy perspective, I would occupy the notch below Brutal (eg I'm having a fellow come over tomorrow to show me how to export stuff). Thus I'm not real sure how to go about evaluating my setup....

    • RE: Can't figure out a print issue

The print method is as simple as it gets- set up the page and document, then hit Print. Maybe it's a Mac quirk, but I just don't understand why it narrows the height, but not, apparently, the width. Also doesn't seem to matter if I print in perspective or scale (in front, side or top view, of course), I still have the problem. Exporting will probably work, although I like to do a lot of prints as I go along, since its nice to have a hard copy of a part finished design so I can sketch out some of my issues away from the computer.

    • Can't figure out a print issue

Hello, I'm a woodworker from Canada who has been using Sketchup for about 6 months. I'm running it on a Mac. The thing that's driving me crazy is when I try to print a drawing, I'll set print Setup OK, but in Document Setup it will restrict the height (Portrait, for example) to about 4 inches of an 11 inch page. If I use Landscape it's a similar narrow band, wasting the rest of the page. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?
