Yes, I know, that it is not necessarily a one step process but I really want/need it to be a one step process!

So, I think with the help of the plugins you mentioned above, maybe I'll be able to write a plugin that does what I need.
And I have another idea, maybe you can also help me with this.
When manually selecting something you can, by right clicking choose selection (or something similar, as I am german, and using the german version I am not 100% sure about the terms) and add all connected or all bordering edges or all connected faces.
Is there a way to automate these?

And TIG, I agree, that the right-left fence selection is really usefull...that's why I want only this (I have again a problem with left and right )
So, what I need, is to select all groups, or entities that are in my selection, even if there is only part of it in there.

I need this because we want to cut out part of our model.
This works already.
But it is important to have all the groups that are in the marking and also not to have seperated lines somewhere.

And as most people instinctively use the left-right selection it would be wonderful to have that working like the right-left selection!
(I hope I got left/right right now )

So, I will have a look at the tools mitcorb mentioned and hope they work for me.

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with the selection tool.

I know about the left/right, right/left selection but the problem is I need every selection to be like the left/right selection.

Is there a way to change the selection tool, some properties to change, I did not find?
Or has anybody an idea how to create a new tool doing what the selection tool does?
