    • RE: Import Poser/DAZ/.obj model into sketchup? WITH texture

      I finish my tutorial :

So after you can open it into Sketchup, you will have perhaps some things to do like re-textured some very little parts of your object or character, little details then...

To use this into well textured 3ds, you need to have the pro version of shetchup which permit to export into 3D Studio (.3ds). This last registering into 3ds permit to have a well textured object.

So for resume, for having well textured object you have to pass by several steps :

      DAZ Studio --> .obj
Accutrans --> to register first time into 3ds
SU --> to register second time into 3ds
      = well textured object 3ds !!!

That's i use and it works very well !!!

But may notice that the characters are often heavy in sizes into 3ds and obj. DAZ studio sell a little plugin with DAZ called DECIMATOR, you can easily use it in order to put off or hide some polygons.

      Hello,

I have the reply to your question for importing a well textured character from DAZ or Poser.
As you already know, DAZ permit to export in .obj. You have of of course to tick on th case "with maps" other wise it will not textured at all.
After that, you have the problem with the object obj in 3ds not textured. You have to install on your computer a little software which is free (!!!!!) : ACCUTRANS 3D. You will find it here : http://www.micromouse.ca/at3d_install_2-12-3.zip

When you run Accutrans 3D, you will open your obj character : you must tick on the following cases :

3D Studio (Binary)(*3DS) into "Save file type" tab
      Avatar
      UV

AND at the side tab : "Output Scale Factor" you will put 20 on copy X...., Reset to... and Use Units.
and at the end, you will save into 3ds !!!!

This is this version of your object ib 3ds that you will able to open into Sketchup.
