what you must realise about the rotate tool is that you can have the coloured protractor on any surface.

Say you have a complex object and you want to rotate it using the blue rotation.. Place the protractor on any horizontal surface and click - move in either red or green direction, click again then you can rotate the whole object without trying to find a blue rotation point on the object.

I happen to like the rotate tool and I use it all the time as I rarely have a 90 degree corner.

      I hope this helps.

maybe you've had it in the US but it's new here. Sure, we've had major roads under the roads icon but it now has the detail and search function of Google Maps which we've never had before.

sorry if I'm wrong on this. juju seemed to understand me.

Yes you've missed that every street name is named - you can type in a street address and it goes directly to that position overlooking the address. They've incorporated Google Maps with Google Earth. Previously they were two different programs.

You need to download the new version to get it.

well they've finally linked the two - I downloaded the new update to GE and the street maps are included under the roads option in layers.

    • RE: Weathers Gone Mad! (jul 20 2007)

Coen - we had a similar situation here through may/june. The Hunter Valley just north of Sydney was totally flooded out, way beyond anything recorded before, similarly with Gippsland in our south, huge flooding, rivers reaching levels never reached before. These poor people had just recovered from the worst bush fires in years. 8O

We also experienced those small tornadoes that have been hitting England recently, 2klms wide, goes for 5 klms and then disappears leaving total destruction behind it, they appear out of the blue.

It appears that when you guys get heat waves we get colder. All the blueberry and stone fruit farms around here have just lost this years crop as they were hit with -3C frosts. We are supposed to be subtropical, we grow bananas and sugarcane.

On the plus side we are experiencing the best snow season for years and the extra snow will fill the empty dams in the Snowy Mountains.

Ah Jimmy - you're serious πŸ˜„ I drive past Kirra regularly and the ocean will win mate. The sand at Kirra and the whole coast actually comes from the sandstone cliffs of Sydney and it moves north due to the currents and ends at Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. I've noticed the currents are eating away the buildup created by the dredging and I reckon give it a year or two and things will be back to normal eventually, you can't stop the natural currents. πŸ˜‰

Kirra Beach Coolangatta. Recognised as one of the best right handers in the world. Unfortunately they've just ruined it by extracting sand to it's south which changed the whole shoreline, but it will come back eventually.

I wonder if JOHN SAYERS could tell me if the last summer down under was an active typhoon season

Our summer was quiet cyclone wise. The west coast had a couple but that's normal as they come in off the Indian ocean, not the Pacific.

same downunder - we are experiencing the coldest winter for awhile. We had 4 lows form off the eastern coast that filled all the dams that were dry from a 5 year drought. We had severe flooding all down the southern coast.

Yes - the weather is changing for sure.

Thanks for that Ross - I've never looked into formfont styles, I will from now on.

Here's what I did with a container. Mark is a renter and when you want a recording setup you are limited in what you can do to a rented house. So Mark suggested we try this approach. If he moves house, he just calls in a truck and moves the studio. πŸ˜„

    • RE: What do you or the firm you work for specialize in?

I came from a totally different background.

I was a successful record producer/engineer throughout the 60s, 70, and into 80s, I build my own studios ( yes physically with hammer and nails) and studied acoustics in my spare time through various libraries. I then moved into TV sound production and built my own post production studios.

After a break heading a TV and Sound Production course at a university I wrote and illustrated "how to build a recording studio" and posted it on the web in 1998 for free. I sold it to the School of Audio Engineering (SAE - the largest audio school in the world) in 2001 and it is still available for free. http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html

In 2003 I established a forum on studio design that now has over 7000 members and ticks up 90 - 100K hits per day.

I now operate an international online studio design business. I don't ever claim to be an architect or an acoustician - I'm a designer.

Just me and my computer, sketchup and skype, overlooking a paddock of happy bulls and cows - yup there's 3 bulls in there. πŸ˜„
