Is it possible to hide one outliner in one scene, but make that outliner visible in another scene?

What I am trying to do: I want to make an alternative floorplan. So have one version of the floorplan on one outliner and the alternative in another. So I tried to create two scenes: one scene with the first outliner hidden and another scene with the other hidden. The problem is the scene doesn't seem to retain the hidden outliner. The scene will only show the currently hidden outliner.

Let me know if that makes sense and if you have advice.
