RE: Sketchup plugin introvabili!

RE: Component manager
Thanks Alan, I was not aware of these posssibilities using the Outliner.

RE: Component manager
Hi, yes you can do this using a Ruby script named "ApplyTo.rb" which will copy the definition of a component to another component. When installed you just right clic on the component and chose to copy the definition then go to the other component and apply the definition to it.
Hope to be clear enough -
RE: Dividing concentric circle?
Hi,
the easiest way is to start drawing your circles with 40 segments !
When you click on the circle tool, by default SU use 24 segments. So just type 40 and hit Enter key then draw your circle. For concentric circles use the offset tool and you will have them with 40 segments too. -
RE: Side table with Louis XV style legs
Hi Gidon,
yes intersect with model is my way too. Nothing extraordinary but it works very well. Youv'e just to be fine drawing the shape. Bezier curves are perfect for that.
Two pictures how to proceed.

RE: A console with drawers
Hi All and thanks for your comments,
Eric, for the lower shelf I'll simply use four 8mm size dowels.
I'll put them in place when assembling the front with the rear frame.
They are effectively not mentionned.
For texturing, yes I try to addjust the size and orientation as fine as I can to get a better look and feel.
Unfortunately I'm not able to make renderings as you do. One day maybe ?
I'm preparing a small side table on which I'll try to make a kind of veneering or sort of. -
RE: A console with drawers
Hi, Gidon,
Your'e totally right that's what I'll probably do. But This is a kind of exercise for me.
Generally I try to use very few screws in my furnitures. But with SUp it's so easy to draw every thing you know...
I agree with you more is not the best here. So no problem at all you can modify the piece -
RE: Vidos francophones sur utilisation de SU
Bonsoir Bert,
A console with drawers
Hi Folks,
a "free style" console I designed sometimes ago. I decided to finish it. Here the result.
No dimensions mentionned but all are in mm.

Hi Folks,

A particular thank you to you Dave. I learn a lot from you and I continue looking at your documents and videos on Design Clic & Build forum. A gold mine for me ! -
RE: New SketchUp Tutorials Available for Woodworkers
Hi Folks,
Joe, to answer your question concerning the use of layers, I don't. My projects are not so complex to have this need. Maybe for huge architectural projects but for woodworking I doubt. Except if you want to animate a bit your models like Dave Richards did in one of his video animating a door. Here is my way to have my shop drawings.
When my project is complete with all parts made as components I create my cutting list with the script "CutListAndMaterials.rb".
Then I copy and drag each piece lets say 2 or 3 meters from the original. I orbit like I want put the dimensions on it and create a scene. And so on for all components. For small or simple elements I group them on the same scene.
Now it might happen you have a complicate piece with a lot of dimensions. In this case I orbit my piece in two or three different positions and I create 2 or 3 scenes. Then I put dimensions on each scene. This might result in a big mess but without the help of "PageHide.rb" script. In fact you can select on each scene the dimensions you want to see only on the selected scene. I like this script very much ! Look at my attached file a simple example I did for you with a door.
At the end I print each scene for the shop.I hope my explanation are enough clear, if not please tell me. I'm more at ease in my native tongue

RE: Wall cabinet designed by Martin McCarthy
thanks Mike,
what do you mean by animation, creating scenes in different areas, situations ?
I'm not using this very often but I can give it a try.
