In Sketchup 2016, turning the background white can be done 2 ways:

1. In Sketchup: Default Tray \ Styles \ Shaded with Texture. NOTE: this is by Scene--you can have multiple scenes with multiple background colors.

2. In Layout: Right Click on the inserted Sketchup view \ Styles \ Shaded with Textures

Hidden Lines...you have to do that in Sketchup as far as I know. View \ Edge Style \ Back Edges
