    • [WIP] Irwin Arena - Original blueprints of arena now up!

Hello! This is my first project on Google SketchUp. I'm building a multi-pupose sports arena. The arena will house ice hockey, arena football, basketball, televised wrestling, and concert venues. I've been working on this project since April 21st. My goal for this project is to create a unique, yet modernized arena. Instead of using the same, old, boring, cookie-cutter layout, I've completely redesigned the arena, sketching up my own blueprints for a unique, yet realistic, layout. This is still a major WIP, but I'll post screenshots of what I have so far. (I'll scan my blueprints and post them here as well.)

Current progress of some of the corner sections near A115/A116.

That's it for today. Please give me some positive feedback!
Blueprints will be posted as soon as possible. Please note that the final product may not be spot-on to the original sketched design. Thank you! πŸ˜„

    • RE: Terrible time with sketchup

What I've found to be pretty easy is to read the tutorials, but don't take it to heart and do it word-for-word. Instead, let your imagination flow free, and just play around with the program a little bit. Don't give up just because you don't get it. Just open up SketchUp, screw around with some of its features, and when you come across something you may have read about, learn how to use it. Another good feature that helped me get started was the Google SketchUp 3D Warehouse. Just download a few things from there and study how it's been put together. By doing this, you'll pick up new techniques and skills that will help you later on.
Just play around with it a litlle bit, and you'll get it sooner or later.

    • RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

Hey, I have a question. I'm building a sports stadium, and I'm sculpting individual seats (and making them components, of course), but I'm running into kind of a weird problem here - when I zoom out away from the model, all the components turn into just a bunch of big, grey boxes. Is this normal for high-poly models, or is it a problem with my computer/graphics card?

BTW: I'm new here. Hello. πŸ˜„
