      Okay.

Tried again following Tig's instructions more carefully. This is where I am now. Do i simply make a copy of the curved group and then connect the two via lines, or...? Tried that but it doesn't seem to "connect" the two curves.

Edit: Didn't quite understand this at first bt since my curved surface isn't the same width at top and bottom, the top and bottom isn't the same "depth" either. Hmmm... Sure glad I wanted to do this in Sketchup before I started building anything! πŸ˜„

      Arh, it's that simple. Nice.

This is where I am now - clearly I am doing something wrong. ❓

B.t.w. it's on purpose that a "bass cylinder" shoots out from the back.

Tig > I have problems understanding your instruction from 21 Jan 2011 16:53, where it says "Draw curve and extrude vertically". I don't understand how to do that?

Edit: Ended up drawing it by hand, but don't know if there is an easier way? Here is the model now with hidden geometry 'On':

    • Problems doing a curve

      Hello,

Have carefully started drawing a clone of the Jamo R909 Oben Baffle speaker. It can be seen here and here.

Yes, I am considering building the clone eventually in real life, but want to visualize it first in Sketchup.

      • I don't understand how to make the curved baffle?

      • I also don't understand why some surfaces are not "filled out", like the sides and top. That makes me think that Sketchup and I don't agree on the fact that the baffle is one piece. ❓

Here is what I have so far (only just begun but already have problems). πŸ˜†

Guys! Thanks for your replies! I had not seen that you'd replied, since I received no notification emails from the forum. Hmm.... I'll make sure to check manually in the future.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll give a try once I get home, and get back to you.

      Cheers,

      Greg

      Hi there experts,

I need your help teaching me how to cut out the following handle. I apologise for the drawing in advance, and hope your are still able to see what I mean:

      Gaieus,

You have been most helpful. Thank you very very much for your kind assistance. 😍

It seems like I've finally understood what you were saying:

      Hi Gaieus,

Wow, I really must say! You nailed it spot on. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. And thank you for being so detailed in your explanations/guides. And quick with your responses too! πŸ˜„

I'm afraid however that I already run into problems in step 2 (unless there is something I am overlooking).

      Step 1

Here I doubleclick the surface to make it a group:

      1_1.JPG

      Step 2

When making it a group it seems that Sketchup selects more face that I expect it to:

      1_2.JPG

And this results in the following:

      1_3.JPG

Can you see what I am doing wrong? I tried several times (even on a new model) but same thing happens. ❓

      Hi Gaieus,

Yeah, not a very clear explanation I can see now. πŸ˜† I have updated the model to "_01". As you can hopefully better see now, I want to do an arc with a bulge on side D but without the edge.

I have tried several different approaches but no succes so far, so looking for some help.

    • A bit of advice with the "Follow Me" tool neeed.

      Hi,

Trying to do a simple model but can't work out how to complete it. As you can see on the model I have made a special edge (if that's the correct word for it) on sides A, B and C. On side D I don't want an edge - just a straight side.

The problem occurs when trying to do the arc on the model on side D. The offset is then limited to 10mm.

Any hints or help would be highly appreciated. πŸ˜„

      Hi all,

I have made a quick model to try some of your suggestions. It seems to work out ok for a mockup.

Frederik -> Thanks for your model. I believe your version is more true to the original.

You have all been very helpful, so thanks a lot for sharing! πŸ˜„

      Hi Gaieus,

      Thanks for the welcome.

I tried your suggestion and drew a single arc. Once I understood that the face must be pendular to the path I was able to start building. I'll put some more effort into it, and get back with more questions (or hopefully a finished leg).

Thanks again for the hint! πŸ‘

    • Help with table legs needed.

      Hi all,

New to the wonders of Sketchup, but loving it and learning more and more as I go along.

I'm using Sketchup to make models of furnitures. The models I'm doing are mockups from which the customers approves the furniture, and the model is then also used by the person who is actually building the furniture. So nothing really advanced or hightec stuff here.

I do however run into some problems with objects that have "special" shapes. At the moment I'm doing a table, and the legs I'd like to show on the model is the "wire-legs" as seen on the Piet Hein Superellipse table:

      http://schiang-living.dk/images/produkter/nT4XWqg1.jpg

I don't know how to go about building an object with this shape. I have taken a look after a tutorial that could help me along, but was not able to find something (that I could understand, anyway).

Is someone able to point me in the right direction?
