The retail price is something like $1000, right? I really am only a teenager with about $300 saved up...Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think I have enouh, or even if I do, would want to spend 3/4 of my money.

Oh! Yeah, It's jst the same as sketchup in that way. Shift+MMB is pan. Also, you may want to look at your prefrences. Do this by moving to the top header, and you'll see one of those up/down arrows. Pull it down, and it'll reveal all your prefrences. Tweak it to your liking, (I prefer to have zoom to mouse position checked) and go to file and hit save prefrences. Then it'll save your new updated prefrences at the start of each blender run. Have fun!

This thread is all about Blender, it's interface, and people asking questions, and, probably, getting answered. 
Ok. It's fun. It has particle systems and liquid sims and is very powerful. It can handle hundreds of thousands of polygons and still be as fast as ever. Good choice I'm pretty sure it does have a community, but I haven't joined it. Hm...good question.
If you must leave for something, leave for Blender. 3dvia is just a mocking of Sketchup, but worse. Of all the things don't leave for that.
No. A really definate no. It's a pretty quiet community, don't leave the warehouse for that.
