    • Garden plan view and Z fighting

Hi, I already made some simple garden landscape plans in SU but I am always struggling how to start or setup the drawing and I really could use some tips.
The basic idea is that I always start in top view and draw the exterior lines of the garden and put this in a group called "groundplan". This area is automatically filled up with a face.
Then I start drawing the outer lines of plant areas, grass areas, concrete path, shed, etc... Each entity is put into a group while I am still in top view. No 3d is used at this moment.
Not every entity - grass area or plant area - will have (or need) an elevation, only another texture.
So when I go to isometric view I have Z figthing (with the "groundplan") which I basically understand.
I already tried to give the areas a small elevation to get rid of the Z fighting but when I have to adjust my drawing I have to zoom in very far to select faces which are sometimes very small due to the small elevation.
Another way is by moving only the "groundplan" a little bit below all other entities.
I also discovered that when making the grass areas a component instead of a group I can cutout the shape from the groundplan.
So, you can somebody give me some advise what the best way is to create a garden drawing.
      Kind regards and thanks
