das problem ist nicht dein rechner, sondern dass runde... die runden objekte haben keine endpunkte, und bemassen kann man nur von endpunkt zu endpunkt.
entweder alles auflösen, oder mein workaround: eine linie setzen, die ich bemassen will, anschliessend bemassen, dann linie löschen.
bemassung steckt halt noch in den kinderschuhen...
klar ist das möglich.
wenn du ein objekt kopierst, dann gibst du ja den abstand ein. wenn du dann unmittelbar danach "x5" eingibst, dann entstehen im selben abstand 5 kopien. einfach mal die hilfe hierzu lesen, ist recht gut beschrieben.
das ist nicht mehr unbedingt notwendig, da das forum seit kurzem auf einem eigenen server sein zuhause gefunden hat... und da hat es wohl (noch) massig speicherplatz. allerdings sollte man doch seinen gesunden menschenverstand nutzen, in welcher grösse man bilder und andere dateien hier einfügt.

setz den schnitt in der gruppe, die du schneiden möchtest, siehe bild.
ich könnte ohne kurzwegtasten gar nicht arbeiten... geht viel schneller mit als ohne! das schöne ist ja, dass man in SU alle kurzwegtasten selbst belegen kann, genau so wie man es will. und man braucht nicht unbedingt kombinationen wie strg+xyz, sondern ein einfacher buchstabe tut es auch.
man kann sie so legen, wie man es aus anderen programmen auch kennt. ich verwende jedoch lieber die freestyle-belegung, dafür verwende ich den linken buchstabenblock, völlig sinnlos bis auf Gruppieren, Farbeimer, Auswahl und Kreis.

kurzwegtasten sind hier des rätsels lösung... das gruppieren wird zwar nicht im kontextmenü angeboten, drücke ich aber G (bei mir für gruppieren) dann klappt das problemlos... ne, stellt kein problem dar, ich arbeite nun aber gerne effektiv, und da ist jeder doppelklick zu viel wenn man ihn vermeiden kann

dann probier es mal so aus:
rechteck zeichnen, mit versatz die stärke des rahmens definieren, innere fläche löschen, alles gruppieren. neues rechteck auf die innere fläche zeichnen (da, wo du erst kürzlich die fläche rausgelöscht hast) und dann gruppieren. nun kannst du beide elemente getrennt bearbeiten, wie z.b. tiefe der elemente, farben...
ha! noch einfacher! rechteck zeichnen, mit versatz das rechteck im rechteck produzieren, zum gruppieren nur jeweils auf die fläche klicken und gruppieren. so kommst du auch dahin.

yeah, i know, i saw you meantion it somewhere, but i did not want to invest money in the office, i knew i would not work long. like i said, it was my smalest problem...
my pc's so far have been stable, i have never had a crash (lucky me?), though my first laptop died while i did my diploma work. well, may have happened with a mac too... i got all my files on an other pc, and went to work again.
so, last year i had to work on a mac, and i never really liked it. i did not like the "explorer" (how was that called again on a mac?), i did not like how it mixed files with folders. this was minor, i could have bought an application, with the pc-explorer layout. many times i had many serious problems, files got corrupted, did not print right, did not print at all, just one page would be printed from a multiple page document, shared stuff with clients would not print on their machine (also a mac), fonts would not install correctly,... the list was long. i am not sure if it was a mac problem, or if it was the setup in the office, fact is, i did have the problems.
i do not think a mac is more intuitive. i am a strong believer in organizing, and in my small world it is not good, if i have the possibility to install programms on my desktop. that is, what my mac did as a default...
as for design: though i am a designer, i still do not like macs. all those jumpy icons that would not hold still... way to stylish, i like simple and straight forward. my christmas present for me was a mp3-player, but NOT an ipod! and yes, most of the offices use pc.
i am not totally against macs, but i do not want one. and i am also a but tired of all those "by a mac" replies, if somebody is looking for a new pc. hello? he/she is looking for a pc!
though today i caught myself: i was dumping stuff in a folder, and thought: "wouldn't it be great, if i could highlight the important ones with a colour?" then i remembered, where i could do it... 
text als textur in einem photoeditor erstellen und als textur in SU einfügen.
oder einen 3d text erstellen und mühsam die einzelnen buchstaben an die rundung anpassen.
oder wenn die rundung nicht sehr gebogen sit, dann könnte man es auch versuchen mit 3d text, so ziehen/drücken, dass die buchstaben durch die fläche gedrückt werden, anschliessend mit mdoell verschneiden und die überflüssigen geometrien löschen. jedoch kann bei einer sehr stark gebogenen rundung der text starkt verzerrt aussehen.

das hat was damit zu tun, dass die textur auf die fläche projiziert wird. eine artenverwandte diskussion gab es hier schon einmal, vielleicht hilft dir das weiter?
spontan fällt mir keine lösung für das problem ein...
dylan, why don't you use the installer? it extracts the files in the right folders. just remember to delete the old exporter.
