      Hi there!

this is a quick "what happend" post. For those who cares.

Kristian Zagar aka "bagar" in his last year of studies at The game assembly (http://www.thegameassembly.com/) in Malmö/Sweden. His a top student and his team Fat unicorn games(http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fat-Unicorn-Games/154568334564658) got contacted by riot games to discuss hiring.

I did not get in to that class thow. But that made sence, Im not realy that kind of artist. But I started with a course for application dev, and will soon start on a company that makes games for facebook and more.

(I got the assignment to make Bagars Portfolio on the web, I will post a simple site soon)

Im doing some big renders with big hdri files. The redering goes well with a smal objek. adding the giant model for renering will give me this message or just crash before and say something like check if theres space left in the temp folder. I did check that have about 70gigs left on the drivers, tries some pagefile settings and still no change. Is there any memmory allocation settings that I have missed?

Ha, have not ben working with bagar in a while but i knew your experimenting with new mappings. I like the pose, it shows that the modle is flexible in the way I hoped we could make him. Im still working on reducing the mesh and when thats done I think me and bagar will sitt down and work out some renders in enviroments. Will be looking in to the reflections and lots more, but for now gj and keep on experimenting untill we meet bagar.

Revealing the mesh.. Do I want to? 😄

The robot is meshed too heavy. I did not want to spend the time I had to make a good mesh for it, just max it out (we had not enough skills in other words). Actually we did not intend to make the whole robot at first. As the project went on we continued using the massive amount of mesh on the parts.
Now I’m trying to reduce the mesh and use components better.(about 13 times less mesh), thinking about the whole picture and then focus more on better materials and the use of hdri maps and such. The end will probably be to make the thing move, the reduced mesh will really help me out 😄

      Thx for the link plot-paris!
And ofc thanks to all for the nice comments!

We are feeling the time pressure so we won't go in too deep with the renderings. But some glossiness here and some light there and it can still make a nice impression.
We will try to make it more lifelike and pump our skills on how to render stuff later on. For now on I’m struggling with this render, as SU crashes when vray tries to render big images.

You should export into another 3d program for animation, look at blender its also free! You say you want to use this model to apply for school what is it you want to study? If its 3d design you should look at learning a few other programs that are better for modelling?

My wishes are to show that I have an interest in learning how to model. I learned really fast what I could do in sketchup and used it to be shure I got the results I was aiming for. And I know how far away I am from being a pro artist but I needed to start somewhere and felt good to start with the simple sketchUp tools. I want to enter the school to learn about the “real stuff”, from basic to Infiniti.
I’m currently taking my time in Zbrsuh and 3ds. I will not stick my head in one place and think I’ll be fine. I’m approaching this late, but no dreams are too late to follow.

IL give blender a try when this is getting animated. thx for the tips!

      Thanks for the great welcome!
I think we will use some sort of carpaint, but were far from experienced on the texturing and rendering part. We know that a good render can make the biggest differences. (right now we are fealing the preshure of time, we want to use this modle when we app for a school)

Any tips or comments are welcome.

great model ideed. I am looking forward to the rendered images. especially with an HDRI environment map these shiny surfaces will look amazing (I assume you will use some sort of car paint finish?)...

Will take a look into HDRI enviroment map usage 😄

      Hi there.

Me and my friend are working on a robot, "Robobobo".
The first steps we had to do was to understand sketchup. This site was realy great for that.

We are going to try vray for the end product.

Lots of work and lots of fun. (our first 3d modle)
