I would take the job, write applications for new positions but in the mean time also try to get a portfolio and website together and see if you can make it on your own. Because of the downturn many businesses may also be looking for cheaper services (i.e. one guy instead of a big firm with a lot of overhead). The main downside is it takes more time to do three things at once, but since it's an admin position you may be able to accomplish some things while at work too.

I tried openworkbench once and it works, but it's not pretty enough for me. Turboproject website bothers me some because it basically says in the MS projects comparison "there are zero features that MS projects has that we don't, and we have a bunch of really cool ones that MS projects doesn't have". What are the odds?

mmm. This is yummy. I built an interactive model of the intrepid class once in Second Life. It was so much work but for some reason working with spaceships in 3d applications is strangely rewarding
