@jaceguay Thanks for your input. I noticed when it opened up just before it crashed it would show a file window for a quick instant. I could never see it because it went so fast, but I used my phone and took a slow motion movie and was able to see the file name. Next I renamed the file so it wouldn't open it up, but it still opened up a window. I did my slo-mo trick again and found that somehow it was opening up the renamed file! I moved it to my desktop, and finally Sketchup is working fine again. Interestingly enough the file opened fine with a Windows version of Sketchup, but not on my Mac. I'm going to have someone who knows more about the program than I do take a look at it on his Windows PC to see if he can find anything wrong with it... Interesting stuff....

Sketchup Crashes on Startup
Running OS X 10.8.5
Sketchup, latest version 8 Free
Mac Pro: 16G Memory, 380G FreeA few weeks ago Sketchup started crashing on startup. It would start to load, show a beach ball, and then give me the option to send a crash report.
I completely uninstalled it, including all the plist and other files as indicated in the article by Sketchup, re-installed it and it worked fine for several weeks.
Now, it has started crashing again, and no re-install will make it work. I have also started the Mac in Safe Mode and it still crashes.
Only one line in the Console Log:
10/21/13 12:42:47.379 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[232]: ([0x0-0x47e47e].com.google.sketchupfree8[18290]) Exited with code: 1
Help!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
