Hi,
I'm trying to "accurately" recreate/model a boat of which I have some actual CAD drawings for. I can't figure out how to do this. I've seen some tuts on creating a boat, but nothing on recreating an existing form...
I've searched around a bit on google and forums on how to create complex shapes and forms, and have found soapskin bubble, and artisan (subdivide and smooth). Am i barking up the right tree with these? I've played around with them for a bit, but am not coming up with the result i need, niether of which are allowing me to really do what I want. I don't have too much time to experiment, so i'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Attached is an image of where i was able to get it so far. Although Im not adept at reading boat construction drawings, I was able to get a fin down the middle and these "ribs" down the sides. I was hoping i could use these ribs to somehow drape a skin over, or get a surface to conform to their overall shape and then manipulate as necessary with Artisan or smoove.
I at one point considered myself a fairly advanced SU user, but this has rightly put me in my place. Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Delvon
