    • RE: WIP: House

I rendered this model last night. I thought it turn out alright except for the the roof, which definitely appears to be tiling. Im a little confused because I used the same texture from my previous house (which didnt appear to tile). I guess I will have to start searching for a better texture. Anyone have any advice, or dimensional shingle textures? Thanks!

Here is how the final rendering came out. Anyone know of any good websites to find free cut-out plants and trees? Finding quality plants seemed to be the hardest part of the post pro. Well, on to the next project...

Here is an update...I rendered and started to do some post-pro work, then decided the colors on the house were a little darker than I would like. Stay tuned...

Alright, well I decided to just go with the siding texture with bump becuase I felt it looked better. It probably could have use some more bump, but I can fix this in photoshop. When I modeled it, it seemed to have too many lines. I have posted an updated render and will post the final after some post-production.

    • WIP: House

I am working on this house model, trying to get it looking photo-real. I am in the process of adding textures but came up with a question. Do you guys think I should model the siding or simply use a texture. I modeled the siding on the face of the garage (farthest right) and used a texture on the rest of the house. To me it does not look much different, but was looking to see what others thought. Obviously this is just a raw render without any "post-op" work, but any addvice or comments to help me make the rendering look better would be appriciated. Thanks!

    • My First Render

I have played around with different techniques and different rendering programs in the past, but I would consider this my first real rendering. I think it turned out well but feel free to leave me any comments or suggestions, as It is always helpfull to hear what others think!

P.S. I have put the rendering in both color and black and white because it will be published in a local village newspaper.

    • RE: DJ's WIP

Ok, I took a break from the house for a bit because I was not having much luck finding any textures I like. Instead I decided to try modeling a car. It was the first time I tried modeling anything other than a building so it could use some work still. I think it looks alright for my first attempt though, what do you guys think?

I added the siding, gutters & downspouts, and a few other little details. I think I'm done modeling the house itself. I may model a bench/ chair or two for the deck...
Anyways, I have attached my progress so far, next step...textures!

I think I will model the planks, the extra little time it will take to model should make for a better finished product...I hope.

As far as rendering software I am not sure what to use, I have never really created a photo-real render with any luck before. I have SU Podium and Kerkythea, which I have played with a little in the past and seems fairly easy to use. I also have acess to Maxwell, which I have never used.

Which rendering software do most people use? Which one seems to give the best results. Vray and Thea seem to be popular ones from what I see on the forum, would it be worth looking into eiter of these?
