      Hello again!

Wanted to share a new project I've been working on. I've been looking into how our architecture will be transformed within cities that will be affected by the rise of sea levels.

The project helped me explore and use new SketchUp plugins such as Libfredos Joint push pull tool(my personal favorite) which helped to extrude coffer systems of the main roof as well as other elements.

      Cheers,
      Steve πŸ˜„

Yeah this is a unique moment in the structure that would require the tie to be located in the back to counter balance. Nonetheless, can't wait to see the final product, it'll look beautiful.

I'd like to run this by you, open to other ideas, but this is going to Pa., snow country! I'm a So Cal boy and know nuthing about snow loads and didn't design this for that. I'm actually getting a liability release from them for any damage / failure due to snow loading πŸ˜„

I've come up with this metal plate idea,

      Hello Joe,

I am a native Pennsylvanian. That metal plate would fail because its relying on its shear strength rather than its tensile strength. I would recommend using a Simpson H1 hurricane tie and place it flush behind the main beam and attach under the jack.

Thanks pbacot! I think the wind picked up during the time of the render lol. But yes I agree, I think I messed up the frequency in the shader coding. The scale seems to be appropriate for an ocean.

    • House in the Hill

3 years ago in Italy, I started a design idea to place a house nestled into the hill rather than on top of one. And the spaces that open out from the hill would have a close relationship to the outdoor patio, creating an entertaining atmosphere for guests.

From one Steve to another, I must say that this is one of the most impressive pieces of work I have seen here on the forums. You, sir, are an artist!

      Haha much appreciated Steve!

A quick question, are we going to see the model in white? Not a problem if you changed your mind.

Sorry for not being clear Mike. I was referring to the clay model being in white mode, which is what Enscape calls the render mode.

      Hello All!

I've been researching and analyzing the works of the Italian Master architect Carlo Scarpa and felt inclined to have a little fun and design a concept using similar style and aesthetics. Most ideas stemmed from his Olivetti and Brion Tomb and Sanctuary. I may produce more images from the model later.

      Thanks,
      Steve

All modeled in SketchUp and rendered with Enscape.

Attached is the model in white mode to understand geometries.
