Hi Richard, you have some supporters here for sure! My wife and I have visited the Kushi institute in Massachusetts (one of the preeminent Macrobiotic institutes in the States) and have been eating this way for years...sometimes more disciplined and other times more lax (i.e. when going out to dinner with friends/family and holidays)

Here are some good links for Macrobiotic cooking/diet:
      http://books.google.com/books?id=tQE2P38IJjAC&dq=macrobiotic+diet&pg=PP1&ots=PJLWMu7pW5&sig=mqX4pNMrcfWNgTRHseqJKG98P3g&hl=en&prev=http://www.google.com/search?q=macrobiotic+diet&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&sa=X&oi=print&ct=title&cad=one-book-with-thumbnail#PPA9,M1

Edit: Here are some more links that relate to anti-cancer foods and diets:

I can tell you that you will feel stronger, mentally focused, energized and will sleep better if you follow the guidelines (on what/how to eat at different times of your day) and the recipes are kinda fun.

I have found that the educating myself on the principles of this idea of balanced nutrition is far more valuable then adhering to a narrow or strict diet. Everyone has different needs, so I hope that this information can help you find aspects that can help you.

The SketchUp team wishes you the best and we hope you will return to full health as soon as possible.

      You'll beat this by summer!

      Cheers,

Hey Lewis, I really like your work here. It may not have the finishing details, but what it nails is lighting and with the choice of wide lens and camera view there is a real dynamic feel of motion and complexity that gives more of an impression of the city and not of a model. Sometimes it's the whole and not the sum of the parts that gives something a spirit. I dig it!

Thanks for sharing your own personal history too. Man, I wish I could just continue going to school for the rest of my life! There are so many interesting things to learn in life, and cultural history is amazingly interesting.

Cool to see the past of this collaboration!

WOW Gaieus et al! What a great Monday surprise! I love you guys!! You all are great! Many, many thanks!

Ross, I loved the movie and song! Those clips are from some of my favorite Kung Fu Movies...especially Drunken Master...which I imitated yesterday, so I'm feeling a little slow today! πŸ˜„

Mike, I think the sound of that bike would have been to much for me this morning! I've actually seen someone riding the jet bike in the pits as Daytona...and it was very strange to see a motorcycle ride by, with the soundtrack of a jet taxiing to a runway!

Eric, yes you beat me to 38 so you'll have to warn me of what's directly ahead!! ...and you're much better at creating beautiful work in SketchUp than I am. I don't even get to finish models! 35 pounds! You're doing great! ...the most I've lost in my life was in training for my first motorcycle racing season, where I lost 10 pounds to try and compete with these fearless little craps! I was down to 124 lbs...and it was tough.

Kris, no Everest climbs for me! I did a small hike with my girl and our pups, and like the motor-head that I am, I worked on the header pipes on my WRX to fix a small but annoying leak!

My wife Deb had a surprise party for me on Friday...we usually have "Movie Night" and invite a bunch of friends over from Google and Electric Rain...but secretly Deb told everyone that it was my birthday weekend so there was cake, drinking games, and lots of fun! P.S. Try taking a drink every time you hear the name "Danny" during the movie Caddyshack! ...it's a challenge!

It was a nice, relaxing birthday weekend for sure.

Thank you Gaieus, Dylan, Jenu, Ross, Mike D, Mike L, Rob, Kris, Susan, Eric, Alan, Chuck, and Tina for all thinking about me!!

You guys totally made my day!! Thanks!

Hi Joe..your computer should have a DVD player in it. You could rent the DVD and watch it right on your PC, for free!

Just a thought. Oh, and I'd be very interested to see your work on this! I love Japanese architecture.

FYI: I was auto-logged off this afternoon as soon as I clicked on "View active topics" to refresh the threads. When I logged back on (auto login was off also), I had a PM that I'd already read (and cleared from my queue) this morning, reappear. ...so I'm guessing that we're running from a backup from yesterday or this morning...?

    • RE: How to naturally add value to a house?

Location, location, location! Once you have a good location, use the design to highlight the good aspects of the lot or view. Then (aside from the basic design) the richness of the materials (stone, tile, rich wood, nice windows, airy lofty feel of ceilings) and then efficiency (overhangs for better passive solar for cool summer and warm winters, good venting, quietness) are important.

    • RE: It's Official... I love you guys!

THANK YOU ALL VERY, VERY MUCH!! I feel a great bond with you all, and I'm totally thrilled and honored to continue to interact with you here!

You've probably noticed some more SketchUp team members on SketchUcation over the past two weeks. This is very good! It also notes that I will need some help in my new roll.

My roll has changed slightly on the SketchUp team, and I will not be able to devote as much time as before, to this excellent forum. This is where my friends Tricia, Brad, Barry, and Jeff (and others!) will be helping out! As you get to know them, you'll see that all of us on the SketchUp team have great respect and appreciation for you all, and that we're fun to chat with!

There's a little more background here

If you have any questions that go unanswered or that you need immediate help with, please feel free to PM me so that we can see it quickly.

Thank you for your friendship and trust! I look forward to working with you on many new and interesting SketchUp projects in the future!

      Model well!

      Cheers,

       - CraigD

    • RE: New to the forum - Introduction

Hey Brad, hey everyone! Thanks for joining bro, and thanks to everyone for welcoming my SketchUp brother and good friend Brad to this forum!!!

Brad and I have been friends and SketchUp team-mates for over a year now, but it's as if we've known each other our whole lives! We became fast friends, and we tend to keep other coworkers out WAAAY too late when Brad pays Boulder a visit (ahem...Barry!) πŸ˜‰

So here's the scoop: The SketchUp team is a very tight knit group of folks and we work very hard every day to bring you the best that we can. We have complimentary skills, much of them overlapping, and we cover for folks when they get overloaded or their roll changes. This leads me to an announcement:

Background: As you all know, (and have chipped in to help!), I had been working very hard to get converted to full-time Google employee. Well that has occurred!! Thank you all for your support!! I was out in California last week for training, which is why I was absent from the forums.

Craig's roll: For the past year+, my roll was SketchUp software Quality Assurance tester. In this roll I was working for the SketchUp team, helping to develop the tool we all love, and working for you guys trying to help and get great information to help us improve SketchUp! As part of the conversion I have accepted a new roll here on the SketchUp team as a 3D Data Specialist. This means that I will not be spending as much time on the forums as I used to, but I'll still be here! I have asked my good friends and team-mates, Brad, Tricia, and Barry to help fill in for me here.

This is all good news. It means that together, we have ensured that this forum became and remains a productive and important part of our community over this past half year. With the inclusion of more SketchUp folks your exposure increases and for me personally, it means that I will get a good chunk of time back so that I can contribute to the SketchUp team more productively and with more impact!

Thank you ALL for being who you are: the best damn community on the planet!!

We love you guys, and what you do every day keeps us going and doing what we do everyday.

So I very much welcome Brad, and Tricia, and Barry, and Jeff H, and all other SketchUp team members to this excellent forum, and I appreciate the help!

Cheers, to our future together! πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

    • RE: Prostate Cancer Update..

Richard, I did not know... On behalf of the SketchUp team, may I say that we hope the best for you and wish you a full recovery.

Please look into a Macrobiotic diet...this will help you lose the weight you need to lose and will give your body the strength and nutrition it will need for success. I can forward you information on eating/cooking the macrobiotic way. I also recommend green and white teas. My wife and I love this tea shop (we found one of their stores while visiting San Francisco) You can order online, and they have a good sampler. : http://www.tenren.com/

We are pulling for you! You can beat this!

Feel free to PM me any time with questions on tea and a macrobiotic diet.

Be strong my friend, we are wishing you the best!

      Sincerely,

       - CraigD and the SketchUp team

Nice render Richard! Good light, nice reflection!

      @unknownuser said:

Only thing for next time would be to change the side count for the Circle tool
...that way you'd get a smoother line around the cup's edge. To change this, click on the Circle tool (you'll see the VCB display the number of sides. *See attached), then just type a higher number in, like 60, and then draw your circle. More sides obviously means shorter straight lines to create the circle and thus a smoother arc! Experiment until you have the correct detail to file size ratio.

Very nice render all in all!

I have found the enhanced Vanishing Point capabilities (for applying textures and scaling inserted images into existing 2D exports from SU) and the Smart Objects (think: Photoshop components or blocks) much more useful than the "3D layer" capabilities, however.

Heh...my best friend from Boston is visiting Deb and me this weekend in Boulder. He's the guy who invented Vanishing Point along with another friend. He's a huge fan of SketchUp too! Glad you like it Lewis, I'll let him know tomorrow at breakfast!
