Thanks
The method of making 2 components each cut into each side of the wall works and they can be moved together, however you can not copy them as a pair, i only get one face for the second window.
I have tried combining both compenents into a larger component but this just loses the ability to cut the wall. Is there another trick or do i really need to get a plugin.
thanks again

Making an compenent cut into a wall
I know there are a lot of threads about this but i have spent the lat couple of hours reading about this and all other threads seem to be more complex. I want to make door/window components that automatically cut a hole in the wall they are put in.
I have created a 2d wall with a 2d rectangle for a window. Selected all 4 sides and the face which then allows me to select the cut opening in the create component window. If i make the component tanslucent then i can see that this has cut a hole in the 2d wall. The problem is when i make it 3D. This method means that the back face of the wall is not cut and therefore you can not see through the window. How do i do this?
thanks
