    • RE: [Plugin][$] Curviloft 2.0a - 31 Mar 24 (Loft & Skinning)

I've been working with Curviloft for the last few days, trying to make a shape like the attached image. I'm using loft along path. I was getting fairly close after dozens of iterations, but now paths that used to work aren't producing the same results as they did before. I suspect I've changed some plugin option, but I have no idea what it might be. I tried reinstalling the plugin but that didn't help.

In the attached file, there are 3 objects. The first one I generated several days ago, and it's pretty good but it needs a few more tweaks. The second one is the initial surfaces and the path, extracted from the first object. The last object is what it generates now. This last one is much "curvier" that the original one.

      Any insight much appreciated!

ps - is there any way to reduce the file size? It seems pretty big for just a couple of small objects.

I just gotta say, this plugin is FANTASTIC -- I just tried it on a few simple shapes and it works great! Thanks Oscar! You plugin writers are really making this Sketchup thing work in the real world! 😍

      Bill,

You spotted a bug in Curviloft (due to the problem that .parallel? method is inaccurate).

I need some more check, but in the meantime, just drop the attached file Lib6Offset3d.rb into the LibFredo6_Dir_45 folder and it should work for your model.

Wow, thanks for your prompt reply! I will give this a try. Curviloft is a great plugin!

One thing, my installation has a _46 folder, not _45. Is that going to matter?

Sorry about that, here is a file in V6 format. There are two duct geometries in here. One of them works and the other one doesn't, as described in my first post. Thanks!

    • Curviloft won't loft along path any more

      Hi -

Another new Sketchup user here. I'm trying to model a curved duct for an R/C model jet using Curviloft. I've gotten several iterations of the duct done using Curviloft, but the latest one now won't loft along the path any more.

In this iteration, I changed the path some, trying to smooth it out. After selecting the path and then the three faces, I click "loft along path" and these red and green diamonds show up in several places and the form is not generated.

I have attached a screen shot showing the situation. Any ideas would be appreciated!
