    • RE: Zomadicam: A SketchUp to Shopbot Partfile Generator

I'm still trying to work with the zomadicam for my shopbot ... still a lot of playing to do.

However .. those who mentioned using SU to create templates on a CNC machine ... I'd be really interested in knowing how you overcome the fact that SU does curves in straight line segments, albeit little ones.

Next week I plan on running some tests on circles, curves, bezier curves, etc. each with differing numbers of segments per curve to try and see if there is any magic number of segments where you can get an "effectively" smooth curve on a cnc directly from a SU created dxf

    • Cutlist script

      Hi Gang,

On the old forum there were several ongoing scripts "in the works" ( even think Todd was doing one ) that would take a cabinet drawing and export the dimension info for import into a sheet optimizer like Cutlist plus.

Once the forum went over to Google groups ... I lost track of it.

      Anyone here doing this ??

    • RE: Rendering Software in Cadalyst Magazine Review

I totally agree with you Al.

While there has been great press about it's use with Earth ... and with the architectural design community .. there really has not been much focus on the "sub - markets" such as woodworking/cabinetmaking/cnc.

Needless to say I'm a bit biased because of the work I do but it really is a shame that people in markets such as mine don't have any focus and/or central discussion point. The frapping "groups" concept just plain sucks to me.

A perfect example is your 3dpdf program. I just happened across the program. I've shown my outputs to several cabinet makers around the country and they are going nuts over it !! I simply "stumbled" upon your product by accident. You would think that Google ( not unlike Autocad ) would at least create a listing of add-on programs by potential market segment served !!

It's almost like Google bought SU as means to push "earth" and more ad clicks !!
