More groups created makes a less complex model
The arc has a lot of diferent groups (each detail is a group) so the details can be inproved in a very easy manner changing the level of detail of the group.

Very easy! It is made with the Lens flare filter in Adobe Photoshop: Filter / Render / Lens flare...
Then you use Edit / Transform / Distort
After that, you can play with the blending mode of the layer...
