    • TUFTED CUSHION

Sorry if it has already been answered, but could anyone give me some advice as to how to model a tufted cushion?
For those interested, the featured piece is the Box Sofa by Autoban
      Thanks to all

    • RE: Any suggestions about modelling a tufted futon matress?

Thanks Rich, I'm not terribly happy with what I came up with on the warehouse...
Anyway I think it's a good time I sat down and learnt how to do this, it's something I need so much for my job...
So you're suggesting subdivide and smooth, then vertex tools... I'll give it a try, thanks again!

    • Any suggestions about modelling a tufted futon matress?

I need to give this sofa a try, but cannot think where to start with the futon. On top of all, there's a tufted section, and I've never managed to model a remotely good looking tuft...
Any suggestions how i could start with it? I reckon it's rectangles, push-pulled to ,say, 10cm of height, then I suppose I need a plugin to give them the organic shape needed, as for the tufted cushion I reckon it's the Sandbox that does the trick... But then there might be a better way to do this... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
      Thanks, Anastassis

    • RE: Spa floor with Vray 1.48.89 Trial version

Well done Frederic! I still can't get the IES lights to work for me, even though I assign millions of light power in the slot.

Another thing I also get in my renders is that sort of splotchy ceiling you've got in the render. Is it "normal"? I tend to think my renders are a failure when I get this, but maybe that's the way it should be.. Can people elaborate on that?

Excellent work as always, I'm a huge fan of your Twilight renders as well.

Quite right Daniel... Trying to show as much of a room as possible in one shot may be economical, but oftentimes frigid and uninteresting...

SU, Vray, Fotosketcher and Photoshop. I also include a hand rendering I did of the same room, featuring 2 Acte Deco "Cerizen" wall stickers instead of a window.
      C&C greatly appreciated.

    • RE: Floor Lamp Modelling

Thanks ever so much Damon. Easy enough even for me. I guess I still lack the right way of thinking about how to model something. It comes with practice.
Unsmoothing the lines was a turning point, it hadn't even crossed my mind. After that it all made sense.
Thanks again and a merry merry X-mas

    • Floor Lamp Modelling

I 'd appreciate any tips on how to model the top of this floor lamp. Surely I'll be needing a plugin or two? I'm on SU7 but have never used any plugin.
      Thanks a lot, Anastassis

Sorry about changing your name Brodie... Don't know where that came from πŸ˜„
Had a look at the tuts, they seem intimidating at the moment.
I'd be interested to hear how people on the forum address mapping issues in SU, preferably with an emphasis on interior design. I've seen wonderful examples showcased in the gallery, and would like to hear about it...

    • Fabric Mapping

It has possibly been addressed many times before. I wanted to ask what is the best/ most effective way of mapping patterned textures (or textures in general) onto high poly surfaces?
Amongst many other things, this is something that keeps my renderings low on presentation quality... You can see an example below. As an interior designer, I obviously work a lot with bed covering, curtains, cushions and armchairs among others...
      Thanks in advance, Anastassis
