RE: Extend face/plane
wow thanks that is exactly what i need.
the video is great but the sound is not working in my browser. (but i get the idea)
thanks for the info!!!P.S i am using chrome windows 8 and have the latest flash (and my sound works for everything else), in case you want to report the sound issue to the blog site that is hosting you videos.

RE: Extend face/plane
yes, as an example i am trying to clean up this geometry pictured below.
i have added a solid to another but the two did not exactly line up so i would like to extend the two sets of surfaces so that they meet in a single "ridge" (shown in red) but it is a pain to draw each edge out from each vertex and build each individual face. i would just like to extend each face out a few inches and then do the intersect model command then trim off the junk.
Thaks

Extend face/plane
Is there an easy way to extend a face or plane to another object quickly.
It would make fixing solids allot easier. Thanks

Bottom?
This might seem like a silly question but in standard views there are ISO, top, front, right, back, and left. what happened to the bottom? Is there a way to make a custom standard view called bottom? I know that bottom sounds absurd to people who model buildings (and for that purpose it is) but it would be really handy for those of us who make engineering parts with features on all sides of our objects. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks

Subtract Limits?
Is there a limit to the complexity of the solids that subtract can handle?
I have two solids that i am trying to subtract. Essentially one is my work piece and the other is a "cutting Tool" to shape the other.
This should be a simple thing yet when i do the subtraction i get a huge mess of geometry comprising parts of both origional solids and the cutting tool is still present. furthermore is that the points of intersection that you would expect to be present after a function like this are not there either so i cannot even go in manually and remove the cutting solid.Am i doing something wrong, missing something, is this a limit of this software or is this a bug that i have stumbled into? if anyone has any information it would be awesome.
this issue has been causing me headaches for a while and i don't know what to do.I have included screen shots of the parts and the result of the subtraction function.
Thanks
(please note that both solids are water tight as far as i can tell, i used solid inspector and the solids have volumes present in the entity info window. furthermore the subtract function does not object to the lack of solids.)
This is the main work piece
this is the "cutting tool"
notice that the result is not a solid any more
this is what it looks like when you explode the resulting output.
it is not what i expected to happen at all.

Orbit origin?
I am having an issue with the ORBIT command. when i select orbit it rotates around my current view for a short time then reverts to revolving around the main axis of the model space. This is very annoying when i am working on an area of my parts that are not near the origin. ( I mostly model parts for 3d printing no architectural or rendering work). How do i specify where the orbit tool revolves around?
Thanks B
