Ah, you guys are actually right that I don't have to project the texture. I thought anything that was curved needed a projected texture. In this case I just painted the texture normal and everything looks as expected.
Thanks all for the help!

Hi All,
I'm having a hard time with a projected texture on a curved surface. I followed the workflow by importing the texture first on a flat surface, then making that texture projected, sampling it, then finally painting it on my curved surface. Everything looks good, except there is a section on my curved surface where the texture is distorted...basically looks like it is stretched out of focus. I attached an image to show the issue, look to the left of the retaining wall.
Can someone please offer a solution as to what I may be doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks Newone! Can you let me know how you did it so I don't need to bug you when I model some other pool designs
Just build your component onto a face
. When you will select the geometry and press G (make component shortcut) you will see "cut face" option checked.
ah, so that's the trick. Thank You so much!

Hi All,
I am having a very hard time turning an inground pool I just modeled into a component that will cut through a surface. Basically, I want to be able to place the pool on a deck in different locations and have it cut through the deck no matter where I place it so you can see the depth of the pool and the deck surrounding the pool. I have spent hours turning the pool model into a component, choosing glue to any surface and made sure 'cut through' was checked off, but the problem is my pool component never cuts through the surface I place in on.
I attached my model so if someone can point me in the right direction to get this to work, I would be greatly appreciative!
Thanks in advance for your help.
