Got it! I had not even thought of sectioning it in the true sense. I was using the term "section" incorrectly. This will work perfect.
Appreciate it!

Gaieus - enclosed the file "Unison Coupler" - should come up to the area I am working on. If not, look for the dimension lines I have added. It has changed from my original description - but still having the same issue.
I was able to a dimenson from a mid point up and a mid point down but not over all.
Appreciate it.
I created a circle with a 22"rad. Pulled it up 8". Offest towards the inside 2" and pushed down that offset 3". Put a 5" hole through the center then grouped the whole thing Now I have what looks like the wheel off a locomotive. I want to dimension the height of each section. One should be 3" and the other 5". The only thing it lets me do once I select the dimenstion tool is the diam. Cannot get it to do the heights by hoovering, pointing or clicking on the edges or side of this object. even if double click to edit.
Appreciate it
Tig / Watkins / Gaieus - appreciate all the input. Have been working with each one as they each will work better in certain cases.

Tig - I get the tool tip to change to center in the bottom of the one i want to move. But as i move it, i can no longer see the center of the cylinder i am trying to stack it on. Would be nice to click the center on th bottom of the cylinder to move and the top of the one you want to set it on then click again to have then snap to the points.
Looks like the guide line is best option - thank-you!
I am trying to stack cylinders of different diameters and lengths on top of each other - with no spaces between them and so that all the centers are in line. Must be a precise way to do this that i am unable to figure out.
