I opened SU8 and loaded an skp file and then simply saved it back. Also, tried it without the save. Dble-clicks on the file still defaults to SU2013. It's almost as if the OS is recognizing SU8 and SU2013 as the same executable and makes no change. SU8 doesn't show up as one of the registered entries under 'Other Programs' in the default program selection window and has to be browsed for. If I could ever figure a way to get there, SU8 might become selectable.

Can't set .skp program association
I'm not sure where to post this question - tried General Discussion, but didn't find a new post link. I have both SketchUp 8 and SketchUp 2013 installed on my Windows 7 pc. Of course, when 2013 was installed , the .skp file associations were also changed to use 2013. When I try to set the default program association back to SketchUp 8, the process is ignored. I can
change the default association for .skp to any of the listed or recommended programs in the default program selection window successfully. But, when I browse and select SketchUp 8, nothing is changed. Any ideas as to why this might be happening ? -
RE: Texture materials problem
Ok, forget my post...I think that my problem is that I used the jpeg textures rather than skm formatted ones.

RE: Texture materials problem
I have no problems simply moving a folder into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8". The problem is accessing the textures in the folder via the materials menu in Sketchup 8.

Texture materials problem
I'm having a problem with adding a folder of textures to the materials directory in SketchUp 8. I have no problem in adding and referencing a single new texture in the materials menu, but in the past, I have grouped various related new textures into folders and using the materials menu, included them successfully with the existing folders in the Sketchup materials directory. I am them able to access them in the materials drop down menu of texture folders. It's been some time ago, and I can't recall the procedure to accomplish this. Can anyone help ?

Orbit tool and shadows
when I use the orbit tool on some SketchUp models with ground shadows on, the shadows and sometimes the model's texture disappears while the camera view is moved. Everything reappears when the view is stationary again. On other models, everything remains intact. I originally suspected that the more complex models were taxing the capabilities of the graphics card and computer, but I've found no correlation with this problem and the size or complexity of the model - the problem occurs with some very simple models and does not occur
on other very large models. Any idea on what's causing this behavior ? -
RE: Exported file corrupted
Yes, I've broken the animation down into 4-5 scene clips separated with transitions, and it looks ok this way.
Thanks for you help. -
RE: Exported file corrupted
I used 1024x768 with 29.97 fps without compression. The smaller avi files that were not corrupted looked
great after conversion to hi-res WMP format. Using any lower resolution is hardly worth looking at. -
Exported file corrupted
My exported SketchUp 8 AVI animations that exceed 2 GB in size will not play on Realplayer or WMP. However, when I
reduce the number of scenes and get the size under 2 GB, they play fine. Why is the size difference causing this problem ?
