Daily fix of SU
-
Hi to every-one.
Just started with free ver of SU 6.4 and finding that it is compulsive & addictive.
I am trying to liven my (old) little grey cells up to more fully understand the prog.
Placed a drawing of my home on GE (search for Flosh Farm, Cleator).
Please tell me if you can see it and any advise for improving it.
My next task is to try and draw the interior; being basement, ground, 1st & attic floors with furniture & surfaces; I cannot see how to do multi-floors at present.
My main training to date has been via 'andriachopra' (may have not got the name exactly correct)excellant training vids and playing around with the various tools.
I have a thousand questions but will try a little further on my own before asking them.

Hi Quintain and welcome to the forum as well as among the addicts!
If you want people to be able to see your model, you'd better place a link pointing at it.
I downloaded your model and have to say that for a "newbie" it is eally nice (there are some back (blue) faces however in the door component and the attic window that you should reverse...).Now as for GE, yes, I can see your model and also it seems to be well placed etc...
Note however that I could see it because I downloaded the knz file from the warehouse and it was sitting in my temporary places folder in GE. If I switched that off, I could not see it thus it is obvious that it is not part of the permanent 3d Layer of GE yet.Submitted models are constantly revised by the Google Team and only with their approval can a model become of that layer. This may however take weeks if not months so you need to be patient. You can still email the kmz file to any friends or just send the link to them (like I did above).
Now as for multifloors; when you use the Push/Pull tool to make the elevation of a house, hit the Ctrl key first to create "floors" (It will leave a face where you started the PP).
Also, when you become a more advanced user, you will most likely want to add thickness to your walls...

Thanks Gaieus.
Your compliments are well recieved and your identification of faults are educational.
I am finding that I have to be more careful in the placing of objects, and not just grabbing hold of them anywhere on the object and trying to place them. I hadn't realised I had put some in back to front or upside down.
I still cannot see the way forward to drawing a 3 storey with a basement house but I will perservere.
Thanks again for your input.

Quintain,
If your purpose with the model is to place it on GE there's no real need to model it from inside, too (navigation in GE won't really let you "go in" anyway). Therefore there's no real need to model the floors either.
Also, since you cannot "cut through" the GE Terrain, moödeling a basement (or any kind of undergound structure) is simply useless.
If you want to model "realistic" buildings however, with the floors and walls (thick walls - not just single faces) as well as inside walls, have a look at these tutorials here: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=723 and http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=752
