911 SU 6.4.120 Mac OSX 10.4.11 Intel Where's the DXF/DWG
-
I just upgraded my Intel Macbook Pro to the latest version of SU. I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11 with all current updates. Yes I am running the full version of SU.
I was looking forward to the added export options in the new version. However to my dismay, there is now no DWG or DXF export of any kind. There are all kinds of other nifty export formats but DXF and DWG are missing from both 2D export and 3D export. Nothing.
Unfortunately and as always happens, I am in the midst of a deadline and am having to down grade to the old version. Not good. This attention to detail thing seems to be missing in this release. Come on guys.
As an aside, every time I quit SU with this version it doesn't quit cleanly, I get a quit unexpectedly dialog versus the program just quitting in a normal graceful fashion.
I look forward to seeing what you all do for version 6.4.121, hopefully you will rectify this.

Am I the only one and just need to reinstall or is this a real problem for any other Mac OS users?
Thanks and have a great day.

Hey Karl,
We think there might have been a problem with a few of the downloads. Could you please re-download the build and try to install it again?
Remove all things SketchUp 6 before you try to reinstall.
Please let me know what happens.
Thank you.

Have you inadvertently installed the Free version over the Pro? (Can that happen?)

Hey Anssi,
I thought that too but he said,

In the Free version he would only have KMZ, SKP and JPEG, but that is a good question. Thanks for asking.
Lets see what he says.

Hey Brad (and others) thanks for the followup. I apologize but until I get past this deadline tomorrow I won't be able to reinstall the new version. After that I can take the time. Thank you and the Google team for looking into it.
I did receive a note from the team at Google earlier today:
Thank you for your note. Please be aware that a clean installation of
Google SketchUp Pro has DWG exporters. It appears as if the
installation was corrupt, and we suggest completely uninstalling SketchUp and
performing a fresh install. For more information, please visit the following articles...Many thanks and I will report back. Hopefully it was just either a corrupt install or I do need to do a clean install. I had installed the new version on my home computer (an old G4 MDD) with no untoward effects and with full export capabilities. I was taken off guard by the install on my work machine not being complete, especially as I was already stressing about getting the work out.
All the best.

I just wanted to let everyone know that re-downloading the new version and reapplying the update has taken care of the problem I had with exports. I didn't do a complete uninstall and then reinstall. I figured I would creep up on the problem (first do no harm) which is usually the way I like to work through these things.
I don't know what the issue was or why the latest attempt worked, but happily it did. Thanks for the suggestions and assistance. I don't know if Google made a change to the download or if the electrons and magnetic fields around my hard drive were just better aligned...
Thanks and all the best

Karl,
I am wondering if the re-installation addressed the unexpected quitting? I have had this problem now across 2 OS' and several re-installs of SU Pro 6... I am now on Leopard, and it continues, but I had it in Tiger as well. Furthermore when I installed Leopard I completely wiped clean my disk.
Has anybody else been experiencing this?
cheers,
derek
