      Hello everybody!

      How do I draw a spline or a smooth curve in Sketchup?
      Imported AutoCAD splines do not work in SU. Is there
      any Ruby script for this? Or any work-around for this?

        PRSS,

        There are so many ways (and also rubies) to draw them - what exactly do you need?
        And why wouldn't imported splines work in SU?

          Thanks for the immediate response.
          I would like to do it , for, say to draw a free curved table top -
          or say a contour line - or just a curved line (not an arc) without
          using the fee hand tool.

          AutoCAD spline imported in SU does not behave like an SU line.
          I cannot extrude the shape (even a closed one from AutoCAD).

          Can you please give link to the rubies that can drw splines in SU?

          Thanks in advance

          With best regards

            Here is the latest ruby I know of and which can draw dofferent bezier curves for instance:
            viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3633

            If your imported cad drawing is really closed and coplanar, you should be able to create a face for it in SU. Just draw a big rectangle around it (make sure that all the lines of the impost lie within the edges of the rectangle), select everything and intersect selected. This should give an independent face to the import (you can now delete the edges of the rectangle).

            For more complex drawings and to make sure whether everything is truely in 2D (i.e. coplanar) there are nice commercial scripts at http://www.smustard.com
