How do i make a bumpmap?

Chukie,
The easiest (though not very precise) way is to turn your original image into B&W and then reverse it to negative.
But there is this nifty little program called "CrazyBump" which does an amazing job:

I'm still just experimenting but had some successful results.
It's just like everything - you need to do it to be able to know it (btw - this is still our "slogen" by Aristotle above the forums: "For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them."

i have nothing,
im trying to make them just on a ground plane,no particular scene.
is there a video tutorial out there?
