      Dear all,

I just got hold of Sketch up and at first glance it looks like a very interesting software. Now we just bought a new house and i would like to use this software to draw the house and also the internals if possible. Can you please recommend a site where i can get all the tutorials step by step from the beginning. I am also looking for a good book that also help me start with the software. It was recommended to me by somebody where he said it is a great and easy software to learn.
Well i hope i will get a response soon. Till then thanks.

      John.

        Camel,

        Welcome here!
To tell the truth the best way is to learn SU is to practise (and learn from your mistakes).

I still find the User's Guide very useful. You can access the online manual from the Help menu or from here: Windows / Mac.

Don't forget the Google SU tutorials as well. This is how I learned.

Start with the Previous SketchUp 5 videos then go to the Google SketchUp 6 Videos.

As for books, the only one I ever got was the The SketchUp Book by Bonie Roskes.
I got version 4 way back when and it is awesome. The new ones are sure to be just as good.

Welcome John, you have just been informed by two very good Tutors. I started in May this year about a week before SketchUcation got busy and I think the stuff that I'm doing is almost up to the standard of the pros already. Kris has presented an excellent tutorial on how a pro builds a house in SketchUp that you will find invaluable, I think it is priceless. It certainly got me off to a good start,Thanks Kris. The tutorials in the help menu are the best place to start,IMHO, and practice before you get into anything serious. If you learn to walk before you try running you won't trip over so often. It's a wonderful program and the community here is extremely friendly, helpful to a fault and they still find time to show some wonderful quirks of humor. You are going to love it and make sure you look in here often, this is the best place to pick up ideas and tips, even before you understand all the lingo. Once again welcome.
            Cheers and Beers,
            Bill.
😳 Sorry about that Boo, you must have posted while I was writing πŸ˜’ They are all very good tutors John, and there are many!

If you have a few bucks to spend get a hold of a copy of Sketchup for Dummies, I've thumbed through it and it has a TON of good information.
There are videos that go with the book, and can be found here for free (and are usually more than enough):
