Hi, I was wondering how to add more openGL options to sketchup. I have a ATI X1950pro gc and only have 2 options, neither with anti-alias options.

Ones i have are as follows:

    Colors Precision Shadows Anti-alias

19 True Color High Yes 0x
20 True Color Low Yes 0x

    Any ideas appreciated.

Hi Ivan -- Welcome to these forums!

I'm no expert but I think I'm correct in noting that SketchUp can only offer OpenGl options based on what your card will support. If you switched cards you most likely would see different options available. Typically there's nothing you can do to get your card to offer up additional options.

If you are willing to get a new graphics card you can get one that will offer you antialiasing. The card doesn't need to be an expensive one to get you more options and better performance. I have an inexpensive card based on a Nvidea chipset and it gives me 4x antialiasing and reasonably good performance. My card is a GeForce 6200 with 128mb of memory. You can pick one up for under 50 bucks.

      Regards, Ross

The thing is my card is very high performance and offers up to 6x anti-aliasing on all other applications... i have no idea why sketchup won't give me the options.

What OS are you running XP or Vista?
Check that you completely up to date with Windows Update and that your ATI catalyst drivers are also up to date.

In the catalyst control panel you can fix the settings (AA, Quality, gamma etc.) per application, make sure that you have no settings for SketchUp or its set to 'Let application decide'

I'm on Xp and fully up to date on that and catalyst too. Even when everything is turned to let application decide i still only get those two options in the preferences...
