'Remove' Section?
-
Hi Guys,
I have started modelling my home and I've got to a bit that I am finding difficult.
I have attached some screenshots trying to represent what I am trying to achieve. Hopefully you can help me.
How do I get this:

To something like this?:

Thank you very much,
Ryan

Ryan,
I'd just suggest you to push/pull the right side of that "section" (as you call it though it means something different in SU so be careful) so push it from right to left until you get to where you want to.
However on the front (or is it back) side of your building there must be some problem for I see profiles (thick edges) where the "backyard wall" starts and not even just one. This means there are some irregular faces there.
Finally, always take care of NOT having the blue faces as front faces (they should be the back face that you cannot see). Right click on them and choose "reverse faces".
This has nothing to do with your "section" but will be useful in the future and you ought to get used to modelling this way right at the beginning. -
Thank you for the advice Gaieus.
Is it okay if somebody explains to me what the real meaning of 'section' is in SU as I'd want to know for future. Confused Thank you Guys.

Well, Ryan,
Nothing is easier than that, have a look at the SU Guide here:
http://download.sketchup.com/sketchuphelp/gsu6_win/Content/I-Construction_Tools/ConTool-SectionPlane.htmAlso, I'd warmly suggest to go through every pages of it:
http://download.sketchup.com/sketchuphelp/gsu6_win/gsuwin.htmlI'm still learning a lot from there. When I started SU, of course, I also just jumped into it but then I realised I needed a much more systematic way to learn it. Go along the pages with your SU open and try everything - it's worth!
Have fun
