I'm looking for a conversion tool that can convert 3DS , DXF , LWO, OBJ files to SKP. It needs to be a mass conversion tool, meaning I point it to the folder containing the file to convert and give it a folder which the converted files need to be written.

I've had a bit of a look around, I can't find any Ruby scripts that do this and the mass conversion tools I've seen don't export to SKP (SketchUp). Preferably looking for a freeware utility.

        Wow!!

Coen, do you use that software? I just read through the spec's on it, and if it does what they claim it is amazing stuff. I'm curious as to whether it lives up to it's "billing?"

        regards

Thx Coen, I was just wondering about this from the file support list...

However it should be fine seeing I'll be exporting to SU and not from SU.

            Juju,

This is a great tool - download the free trial - works for 30 days. CAD version is expensive - but to get to .skp format from .3ds or others is very productive, and there are some 3d file clean up processes that can help control the complexity and file sizes. Give it a try and convert an unlimited number of files in 30 days!

OK, so I've downloaded the trial version of the program, installed it and using it to convert some models to SKP format.

Here is the thing. The model converts beautifully, but there are no textures to it. Completely white in SU. This makes the models I'm converting a lot less useful.

The models I'm converting is some stuff I bought from 3Dplants.com - all nicely textured and such, but now they're pretty useless without textures. I tried importing them one by one and then converting them but even then some textures are lost and it seems that Deep Exploration does a better job at converting the geometry than SU does itself! Go figure...

Please people, anybody with some advise, make yourself heard!
