An interesting phenomenon with styles
-
Well, I ran across this problem over the Groups in this post.
It seems that when applying one of those "fancy" styles, the lines of the geometry behind can be seen on the face of the 2D plants (components) placed in front of them.
Well, these are using png files with alpha channel. I have tried with other pngs but they did not behave so.
Here are the link of the images attached by the poster (Trevel):
"Default style":"Sketchy style":
Quite sad because thse styles could go well with a lot of Tom's cool plants for instance and they all go weird.

Is this one of Susans Entourage trees Gaieus?
It looks really nice.

I don't know, Dylan, I just "forwarded" this interesting thing.
also, Tom seems to be aware of the issue as Catamountain has provided a link to an earlier thread here.

I have encountered this problem with my trees also.
My current workaround is to create my styles or special effects in photoshop after the fact. Hopefully the google / sketchup people follow this ng and correct the issue in the next release.P: robert_good

I discovered this great sadness early on in the beta testing process...and after passing through several releases was told it wouldn't be fixed in SU6 (partly the reason I stopped working toward a CD of my growies). Hopefully it is something that can (and will) be fixed...since some of the sketchy edges (like Ross's subtle beauties) would work famously with NPR entourage.

Yeah, that's what I meant in the "footie" of my first post.
Although I seem to have reinvented the wheel with this topic, I don't mind for it keeps the issue hot while SU 7 is being prepared...
