I'm looking to create a library of building
Materials/Tiles for sketchup (and any other
      program of the sort).

Mostly it will be wood & wood panels initially
photographed at as high a resolution as
possible. The panels will be photographed
      4' x 8', then 4' edge, then 8' edge. If
there are any molded/worked edges they will
also be taken into account and photographed
      head on and profile.

My question is this: What size tile and depth of
resolution would the standard be. I've seen and
downloaded many tiles over the years and have yet
to come across (notice?) a definitive list of what may
constitute a standard. Any input will be greatly
appreciated as all will benefit in the long run.

        Yup,

Not as if I could help you just mentioning that normally a poll is made into statements not questions.
On top of that, there is no choice for "excellent idea" for instance (which would be my choice btw) - only two negative ones.
If I were you, I'd consider editing my post (you can do that - as well as I could do that as an admin just don't want to unless you need help).

Anyway, although if you ever finish with any material library like that, this will be the ideal place to share. Until then however, let me move your topic to the Pro forums where it receives more attention.

        Cheers

        Gai...

lol, yeah the poll only offers negative responses. I'd vote for somewhere less than "excellent idea" but probably higher than "a waste of my time".

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Anything like this can only be a good thing imo. It will benefit you and any others you care to share with.

feel free to contact me at sketchup-house-plans.com and I can set you up with some space to work on this... and perhaps help.

              standards would be realisim...

a sheet of plywood should cover 4'x8' with out repeating the pattern or should look correct when repeating...

wood trim should be narrow and long, and should have tight graining.

a cross section of wood should be just that, a cross section, and the outside of wood or the long grain should be just that...

yeah I could get into this.
