a loft tool would be really useful!

I made this quick example with Bonzai3D:

Cracks me up how you have Bonzai set up to look like SketchUp. very decieving!

There are so many ways that a loft tool could or should be implemented. The one you show there is fairly easy to code. But (for my Ruby skillz) it becomes problematic when you want it to work on various axes, with open and closed splines, and with more than just 2 splines.

All of these problems are easy to overcome - with some smart coding.

Oh, and I just realized another problem. Oh dear, that one might set me back a long time until I figure out the math behind bezier curves 😄

Well, I've got about 80% of the math figured out. But thats only about 20% of the script. but here's a little video to show it in action.

          There is no sound.

                            Yeah, me too!

It is coming along well and I put some time into it today, and got some insight into how other scripts implement lofts.

I might have a very simple prototype up and running tonight or tomorrow. Ive got it working pretty good, it just doesn't smooth from spline to spline. But its still very fun to play with.

                                  Now, back on topic...

Darrel, One small request, can you located the latest Skin.rb file on your first post please? For some reason my skin ruby wasn't working and i had to filter through 12 pages of posts to find Version 2.5 [I assume it is the latest version...]. This is another reason why it would be handy to put the updates on your first posts, [as does Fredo, Whaat, Chris...] is that they post a compressed file named the version in questions...

Would just make things easier to find.
Thanks for a great script, BTW!!!! 🎉 🎉

                                  purpose/expression/purpose/....

BTW, on the Skin Files thread:
                                    http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=6912&hilit=plugin
it referes to the current version as 2.2.....
then on this thread on page 12 the current version is 2.5....

                                    😕

                                    purpose/expression/purpose/....

Best I can tell, Mr. Darrel, the author of Skin.rb hasn't been heard from since he posted the plugin. Maybe Jim, the plugin curator on this forum has contacted him.
I am wondering if someone could take up the skin plugin just to get it consistent even if it will become obsolete. Sometimes you just need a simple operation like this.
Somehow, I was able to get it and the icons. I think I did it by loading an early version, then a later version, and then going back to the early version, or some combination like that. It sets up a drop down call in the Tools menu, called D.B. Tools with a couple of extended options.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Any possibilities to make skin.rb working inside of groups/components?
This will be very nice(i usually must copy the geometry outside of the groups and after running the skin taking it back into group or component)..
