A story my wife just sent me...

      PREGNANT TURKEY STORY

One year, at Christmas time, my mom went to my sister's house for the
traditional holiday feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom
decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something
from the store and asked if my sister wouldn't mind going out to get it.

When my sister left the house, my mom took the turkey out of the oven,
removed the mixed stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, and inserted it into
the turkey...then re-stuffed the turkey She then placed the bird(s) back
      into the oven.

When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven
and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit
something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird.

With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, "Barbara,
      you've cooked a pregnant bird!"

At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry
      hysterically.

It took the entire family almost two hours to convince her that turkeys
      lay eggs!

Yes, my sister is a BLONDE!

Well my wife is sick so I have to cook the turkey this year. So I started looking for a recipe. I found one just in time for Thanksgiving, a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing - imagine that! I thought it was perfect for people, like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.

            BAKED STUFFED TURKEY

            15 lb. turkey
            1 cup melted butter
4 cups stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good)
2 bags uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHERS LOW FAT)

            Salt/pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well
with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with
stuffing and popcorn (be sure to remove popcorn from bag before placing in turkey).
Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven. Listen for
            the popping sounds.

When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open
and the turkey flies across the room, it is done.

And, you thought I couldn't cook.

It should be a great day ❗

Best wishes to the wife Eric.

We are doing it the Martha Stewart way this year.

              Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

πŸ˜› Thank you for the recipe Eric, I have never cooked a Turkey before, (thanksgiving is not a Kiwi custom,) but now I can give it a shot. It sounds an ideal way to cook a good feed and clean the oven at the same time. Much more humane than cooking pregnant Turkeys I'm sure. πŸ’š I may try it for my Xmas dinner.
                    Cheers, Bill
