3D Selector?

I wish I had a 3D selector, one that could only select the objects within a certain area. when I'm working on houses in sketchup, I invaribly need to select things on a wall or surrounding a wall and don't want to select the things in the back ground, so I have to rotate the model into an elevation view or plan view and use the slector to slice through the plan and try to grab what I need to group. if I could select one spot in space, then a second to define the box, then pull up that selection box to the ehight I needed. then release for the capture.
and so it was written, so shall it be done... or has it be done? well I'd like to see it none the less.

So, the selector would utilize the push/pull tool.
nice idea!! all the components seem to already be there.
you could use the ctrl key to toggle it on and off just like the other tools.

I was thinking the same thing... all the tools are there... just give us a button to control it. and viola.
