Version 7.0 of my olde Slicer tool is now available.
      https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_Slicer
After 7 years, there's been a very long over due general update which many subtle improvements. It longer uses deBableizer - all shipped lingvo files re-translated and fixed. Signed with its file structure improved - which should stop issues with native 'migration' tool. It deletes any deprecated files/folder on first run, but might need an immediate restart to sync everything. Operation is as the previous versions.
      Feedback here please...

many thanks! BTW don't you think that slicing from the bottom to top is the most logical order? any chance to have a non-modal window with live preview?

          @rv1974
When you look at a stack of horizontally sliced parts you see the top one first ? So that's number one ?
The extension is almost 17 years old, and worked across all SketchUp versions so far.
This update was to align it with recent changes with newer versions - like the 'migrate' tool and rational language translations etc...
It's not encrypted so if you want to play around with how it works for you feel free...
Making a preview dialog would be no small task...

The most basic task*: to make a Mass object representing high rise building and slice it from ground zero in the upward direction. Ridiculously primitive task was never possible with this tool
*- SU is mainly an architectural modeler, isn't it?

OK, I give in. I'll add an option to name slices in Z upwards or downwards !
Do you also want to start slices at 0 or 1 because outside USA the 1st floor is the 2nd floor !

@TIG from zero (aka entrance floor, ground floor). or, in SU terms, from the object's Origin (typically at bottom left corner, though I always place at bottom center).

I think it's a good idea to have an option to pick the starting point in the model. You'd need a non-modal UI for this.

BUT in the USA the Ground floor is '1' - so I'll add that option...

maybe abandoning "floor" wording and using object's origin. plus option for Z Offset.

                        I'll stick with two extra options in Z slicing - Start Z ref at 0 or 1 - and - Z ref upwards - i.e. 'ground' = 0 or 1.
Of would you like Start Z ref to be something like -2 for 2 basements then the slices are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, etc
Also would you like the ref to pas with leading zeroes as now ? or perhaps 01 not 001 ? or plain 1, 2, 3 etc

Thanks for this update sir. I just gave it a test. It's amazingly fast.

FWIW, it works fine for me as it is.

                            Version 7.1 is now available.
                            https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_Slicer

Operation is much as the previous versions, but with additional Dialog options added:
= add reference slices 'upwards' [Yes|No] - more logical when slicing a building massing model into floor plates.
= start reference at 0 or 1 - this covers some countries who use 1 for 'ground' floor [calling it 'first'], versus 1 for 'first' floor [meaning first 'upper' floor], thus it lets you start at 0 or 1 for the 'ground' floor to suit your local naming convention.
= reference labels are now auto-moved logically onto the 'top' face of each slice - positioned near bottom left corner, offset by thickness in X&Y, to minimize potential clashes and awkwardness, although of course it's possible to contrive a form that when sized has slices with insufficient face area that can't always nicely accommodate their entire label.

                            Feedback here please.
